Autumn festival costumes for kindergarten and school: mushrooms and fly agarics, borscht-set vegetables, autumn leaves and the figure of Autumn herself. Many costumes are also available to rent — sensible when the outfit is needed for a single morning party.
Kindergartens usually ask for one of three things: a mushroom, a vegetable, or the figure of Autumn. A mushroom or fly agaric is the easiest choice for the youngest — the cap is instantly recognisable and the child doesn't have to hold anything. Vegetables from the borscht set — carrot, beetroot, cabbage, potato, onion, tomato, pepper — are chosen when the group stages a harvest scene and every child gets a role. The Autumn costume with maple leaves usually goes to the girl reciting a poem or hosting the event.
An autumn costume is worn once or twice a year, and by next autumn the child has outgrown it. Renting is often the smarter option: you pay less and don't have to find storage afterwards. Buying makes sense for things the child will keep wearing — a wreath or a hat that also works for a photo shoot in the park. Each product page shows whether renting is available.
Carnival costumes are sized by height in centimetres. Measure the child without shoes and take the next size up: a tight costume on stage means tears backstage, while a slightly loose one is easily gathered with a belt. Allow extra room if a polo neck or tights go underneath.
Half the impression comes from details: a maple-leaf wreath, a mushroom cap, a flower headband. Often a simple dress with the right wreath is enough for the character to be recognised — see the accessories section.
